Elina is interested in developing collaborative and empowering approaches to mental health care and specifically evaluating the impact of interventions derived from the principles of the recovery approach to mental health. To date her research activity has taken place in the context of NHS services for people with severe and complex difficulties, including in-patient, forensic and secure services. She is also interested in the relationship between trauma, attachment and mental health, including the ways in which experiences that are often understood as mental health symptoms are meaningful responses to adverse early experiences.
