My research career has involved the both the development of novel synthetic methodologies and the application of organic synthesis in diverse and inspiring research fields – from molecular electronics and graphene derivatisation through to stem cell research and modulation of mitochondrial behaviour. My current research interests include the design and synthesis of novel hydrogen sulphide donors (in collaboration with Dr. Mark Wood (Biosciences, Exeter) and Dr. Matt Whiteman (Medical School, Exeter)) and the development of graphene-based sensors for biologically important targets (in collaboration with Dr. Dave Horsell and Dr. Steve Green (both Physics, Exeter).
