个人简介

I was born in 1977 in Turin, Italy. From 1996 to 2001 I studied Medical Biotechnology at University of Turin, in Italy. After graduating, I moved at the IMP in Vienna (Austria) where I worked as graduate student in Barry Dickson‘s laboratory, studying development of the nervous system in the embryo of Drosophila melanogaster (2002-2006). From September 2006 to July 2009, I was a post-doc in the laboratory for research on sleep and consciousness with Chiara Cirelli and Giulio Tononi. In October 2010 I joined Imperial College as Junior Research Fellow. From October 2012 I am a Lecturer in Systems Neurobiology with the Department of Life Sciences.

研究领域

My current research is aimed at elucidating the enigmatic function(s) of sleep using a combination of neurobiology, genetics and bioinformatics. Most of the work is carried on using Drosophila melanogaster as model system, but some projects aim at addressing novel ways of study sleep in humans too. During my spare time, I love hacking with software and hardware. I am an enthusiast linux user and a passionate sustainer of the open source philosophy.
