个人简介

I originally studied pharmacy at Bradford University and qualified as a pharmacist in 1976. I worked for 10 years in community pharmacy before moving to hospital in 1986. I started working as a pharmacist in the NHS in a psychiatric hospital which was closed in 2000. I developed my career from a basic grade pharmacist working in psychiatry to becoming a Chief Pharmacist for South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust. On my journey as well as being a psychiatric pharmacist I worked at the local general hospital, spent time working at the Leeds Addiction Unit (a very demanding role) and with Learning Disabilities services. As part of my role as a Chief Pharmacist I was also the Accountable Officer for Controlled Drugs, the lead pharmacist for education and training, the lead pharmacist for non-medical prescribing and I shared responsibility for the medicines management agenda at the Trust with the Medical Director. I retired from this role in 2013. I am currently a Fellow and fully accredited member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy (CMHP). I also recently completely my Faculty membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and I am now recognised as a Fellow of the Faculty of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (FFRPS). I took up the role as Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice in September 2014 as I believed I had a lot to give to to the practice of pharmacy. I am passionate about pharmacy and have worked to support the students to understand the differing roles in pharmacy as well as the day to day practice. I have been successful in supporting the development of mental health into the curriculum. I also work in Human and Health Sciences as the tutor for Pharmacology on the Non-Medical Prescribing Course. I support the Dementia Friends initiative and work as a volunteer Dementia Friends Champion. On a personal level I have been married a long time and enjoy the grandchildren very much.
