个人简介

UCLA历史学博士，美国德克萨斯大学奥斯汀分校历史系教授，东亚研究中心主任。2019年受聘为南京大学政府管理学院特任教授，长期从事近现代中国经济、社会与政治问题的研究和教学。 主要论著有The Making of the Modern Chinese State: 1600-1950(Routledge, 2019)，Reinventing Modern China: Imagination and Authenticity in Chinese Historical Writing（中文版《重构近代中国：中国历史写作中的想象与真实》），Village China under Socialism and Reform：A Micro-History，1948-2008（中文版《乡村中国纪事:集体化和改革的微观历程》），Village Governance in North China．1875-1936（中文版《华北村治：晚清和民国时期的国家与乡村》）等。主编两套大型丛书：“Rethinking Socialism and Reform in China”（ “中国社会主义和改革道路的再思考”丛书）、“Studies in Contemporary Chinese History”（ “当代中国史研究”丛书）。2000年以来，在国内外顶尖学术期刊History and Theory, China Quarterly, Modern China, China Journal，《中国社会科学》、《历史研究》等发表论文30余篇，并担任Twentieth-Century China，Rural China: An International Journal of History and Social Sciences，Chinese Historical Review，《开放时代》等学术期刊的编委，在海内外具有广泛的学术影响。
