From 1984, M Clarke was with the signal processing laboratory in Imperial College working on parallel computing architectures. From 1985 he was with the Department of Computing, Imperial College, working medical signal processing of ECG signals and intra-arterial ultrasound imaging. He moved to Brunel University in 1988 and is now a Reader in Telemedicine and eHealth Systems in the Department of Computer Science. He is former chair of the American Telemedicine Association Special Interest Group in Technology and the International SIG. He was a board member of the UKeHA. He is on the CEN, HL7, IEEE and ISO committees working on standards for medical devices, currently chair of the lower layers working group and one of the core members of the IEEE 11073 Personal Health Devices working group.

研究领域

Main research interests are in the application of technology to medicine and specialises in telemedicine, including telemonitoring, telehealth and telecare, and includes technology development and evaluating its use in clinical practice, with specific interest in primary care. The work has been conducted in collaboration with Chorleywood Health Centre, which has been established as a primary care test bed for research of health care delivery methods using information and communication technologies
