Mandy lectures on the undergraduate course within the Physiotherapy division at Brunel, and to both under-graduate and post-graduate physiotherapy and medical students at Kings College London and Imperial College of Medicine, Science and Technology. She is also responsible for the supervision of MSc and PhD students. Mandy is an experienced and currently practicing cardiopulmonary physiotherapist, with a special interest in the critically ill patient. Mandy had a PhD in cardiopulmonary physiology and remains an active researcher; her research activities include respiratory physiology, dysfunctional breathing and physiotherapy education. She is currently conducting a systematic review with the Cochrane Collaboration.

Manual therapy provides no additional benefit to breathing retraining in the management of dysfunctional breathing: A randomised controlled trial. Manuscript in preparation for submission to Thorax. Collaborative work with Dr Jennifer Pryor Royal, Prof Margaret Hodson, Dr Robert Wilson Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust & Fiona Troup Harley Street Investigation to determine the optimum method for reliably generating induced sputum samples from human adult. Collaborative work with Dr Marc Lipman, Dr Nadia Shafi, Dr Amer Alhasani, Royal Free NHS Trust; University College London. Primarily aims to identify the optimal method of consistently inducing sputum samples in healthy individuals and patients with COPD Author of Cochrane Review entitled “Breathing exercises for dysfunctional breathing in adults”
