Yulong joined UoB in October 2013, and prior to this, he was Professor and director of Institute of Particle Science & Engineering at the University of Leeds. He joined Leeds in June 2001 after previous employments with Imperial College London (1997-1999), University of Birmingham (1999-2001), and University of Science and Technology Beijing (1988-1994). He was the founding director of the joint Institute for Energy Storage Research between University of Leeds and Institute of Process Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
