研究领域
Organic Chemistry
Research in the Martin lab will focus on the development of new catalytic transformations and novel strategies for bond activation. Our goal will be to identify reactions that are both broadly useful and provide new avenues for the synthesis of structurally complex natural products and pharmaceutical agents. We will find inspiration both through the identification of bioactive natural product targets, and through consideration of larger problems where organic chemistry is poised to offer practical solutions (eg. degradation and selective functionalization of biomass). A major focus of the lab will be to explore general approaches to families of natural products where promising biological activity has been reported, in particular in the area of neuroregenerative and neuroprotective molecules. In addition to chemical synthesis, we will pursue studies of their mechanism of action and initiate collaborative studies where appropriate.
