研究领域

Associate Professor Latham's research interests involve many aspects of inorganic and materials chemistry, in particular organometallic complexes, silicate and phosphonate networks. These materials have relevance in areas such as catalysis, sensors and new materials. Kay also conducts research into supramolecular architectures involving phosphonic acids. Supramolecular chemistry involves exploration into the weaker interactions (non-covalent) in chemistry eg. H-bonding, pi-stacking, and dipole-dipole interactions. There is a strong emphasis on synthetic methods, energetic and computational studies, and structural techniques, which involve x-ray crystallography and a range of spectroscopic methods. Much of this research is in collaboration with colleagues both internal and external to the University.
