研究领域

My laboratory is interested in understanding the evolution of insect:microbe interactions from the perspective of the insect host. We commonly use Drosophila as a model to study bacteria that range from mutualists to pathogens. In a more applied context we are also studying the effects of a bacterial symbiont on mosquitoes that is being developed for biocontrol against dengue virus. We use a combination of molecular biology, genomics, and experimental approaches to examine •Insect x symbiont x pathogen interactions •The genetic basis of pathogen transmission in insect vectors •The relationship between infection and fitness in insects
