Cutting-edge research for the R&D of advanced clean energy technologies, particularly for the advanced utilisation of Victorian brown coal, brown coal fly ash and other low-quality fuels in high-efficiency and low-emission modes. Detailed interests include:, 1) Oxy-fuel combustion (lab-scale and pilot-scale) and flame-less high-temperature combustion;, 2) Upgrading low-quality fuel for dry ultra-clean fuel with the potential to burn in gas turbine combined cycle and/or direct carbon fuel cell;, 3) Characterisation of the environment-relevant properties of combustion-derived pollutants (SOx, NOx, particulate matter and trace metals) and their control;, 4) Fly ash mineralogical properties, Hydrometallurgical leaching and utilisation for the generation of value-added metals;, 5) CO2 on-site mineralization for permanent capture and storage and generation of high-purity calcite., 6) Development of advanced low-temp catalytic processes for the conversion of low-quality fuels to syn-gas., Funding Supports:,
