I'm a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Melbourne. My research interest is in understanding the responses of weeds/invasive species to the environment using physiological-based models. My current focus is the interaction between invasive species, particularly, to understand the role of hybridisation (introgression) in facilitating the colonisation of invader plants from a demographic perspective (non-adaptationist view). I am also interested in understanding the determinants of species' range, again with a focus on predicting the potential range of invasive species. My collaborative work (with Dr. Bruce Webber from CSIRO Ecosystem Sciences) in the field of SDMs resulted in the development of a new tool for evaluating the degree of extrapolation in SDMs (both in univariate range and multivariate space). See www.climond.org/exdet for more information on our ExDet package. Yes, I am still working on seed germination and seedling emergence models. In this field, my focus is developing biologically sound and mathematically robust hydrothermal (and hydrotime) models.
