研究领域

We are interested in the molecular and cellular functions of peripheral immune system in CNS injury and degenerative diseases, specially focus on infiltrating monocyte in mediating the immune response post ischemic stroke and inflammaging in the induction of AD. As immune response is a double-edged sword in neuronal death and regeneration post injury, understanding and fine tuning the balance between proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses provides new strategies for the relief of neural injury and promotion of regeneration. Aging is the key risking factor for neuronal degenerative diseases, accumulated distortions in the aged immune system lead to the interruption of immune niche in CNS and finally disturb the immune-protective effect of glial cells on neuronal survival. Thus, it is of great importance to find out the mechanism of inflammaging in the induction and progression of CNS degeneration. Additionally, we will also investigate the role of neural circuitry regulations on immune system in homeostasis and immune disease progression. The innervation of sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves in immune organs provide controlling hubs for CSN in regulating immune activities. However, the detailed neural circuitry and molecular mechanisms of how CNS directing immune system still remains mysteries.
