1984年在中国科学院微生物所获硕士学位;
1994年在荷兰Wageningen大学获博士学位。
1995年至1996年9月在美国阿拉巴马州立大学作博士后研究。

1985年至1989年9月在微生物所从事细菌分类的研究;
1996年9月至今在微生物所从事厌氧细菌协同代谢和环境适应机理研究, 副研究员;
1999年至今在微生物所从事厌氧细菌协同代谢和环境适应机理研究, 研究员;
2000年获得国家杰出青年基金
2004年入选中国科学院“****”,
2004年至2009年作为首席科学家主持国家科技部973项目。
