个人简介

Dr. Guohua Jia has been educated and trained at several world’s top universities and research groups. He obtained his Ph.D. from City University of Hong Kong, followed by postdoctoral research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with Professor Uri Banin in Israel under the support of Lady Davis Fellowship and Golda Meir Fellowship. After securing a Curtin Research Fellowship (ERC), he commenced as his independent research at Curtin University in 2015. He was awarded an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) in 2015 and ARC Future Fellowship in 2021. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (FRACI) in 2023, recognising his outstanding contribution to the advancement of chemical sciences. He has been appointed as a member of the ARC College of Experts (CoE) since October 2024, which acknowledges his exceptional research leadership. His research mainly focuses on the chemistry and physics of colloidal semiconductor nanocrystal quantum dots, with particular emphasis on their shape-dependent properties and applications in lighting and displays, catalysis, solar energy harvesting and storage. He has published over 160 peer-reviewed journal papers in top-tier journals such as Nature Materials, Chemical Review, Chemical Society Review, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Advanced Materials, and Angewandte Chemie International Edition. He has supervised more than 10 PhD students with 7 completions, of which many students received research awards and scholarships at multiple levels, such as ARC DECRA Fellowship, Chancellor’s Commendation for Exceptional PhD Thesis, Curtin Mobility Award Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad, and Future Scientist Award from Kelly Services. He is actively engaged in organisation of international and domestic conferences and symposiums and has given more than 40 invited talks. He is the founder and chair of The 1st Australian Materials Chemistry Conference (AMCC23, Fremantle WA), which has become a biennial conference since then. He also initiated and chaired the symposium of “Colloidal Semiconductor Nanocrystals (Including Perovskite Nanocrystals)” at the American Chemical Society (ACS) Spring and Fall Annual meetings in 2023. His professional leadership is also evidenced by the heavy engagement in academic roles including serving as the Associate Editor or Editorial Board Member for many journals. He is an Editor of Materials & Design (Elsevier), Materials Today Chemistry (Elsevier), and Journal of Information Displays (Taylor & Francis), and an advisory board member of Nanoscale and Nanoscale Advances (Royal Society of Chemistry). 6 themed issues were published by him as the leading guest editor. He has been the chair of the Materials Chemistry Division of the RACI since 2024.
