研究领域

His research focus can be summarised under the banner 'Muscle Mass Matters' and its focus is looking at various dietary supplements and exercise regimes and their effect on muscle function in health, ageing and disease. Current projects focus on: effects of vitamin D on skeletal muscle improving ageing & longevity delaying severity and/or improving function in muscular dystrophy reducing the impact of obesity & diabetes. Associate Professor Hayes played a pivotal role in obtaining Collaborative Network Funding from the Federal Government and is conducting research into the effect of vitamin D on muscle strength, bone quality and risk of falls, as well as the impact and mechanisms related to sarcopenic obesity.
