个人简介

Dr. Wietstock recieved his B, S, in Chemistry from Alma College in 1982. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Uniformed Services of the Health Sciences in 1988 where he characterized the DNA polymerase enzyme in wild-type and temperature sensitive mutants of Herpes Simplex Viruses Type 1. Prior to joining the faculty at Notre Dame in 2005, Dr, Wietstock held positions at Alma College and Indiana University Bloomington. He serves as the Undergraduate Research Coordinator; Chemistry Advisor; assists with Lab Safety Training Program; and implementation of the electronic chemical inventory system. Dr. Wietstock has also been active on the Executive Committee of the Special Professional Faculty as Secretary.

Dr. Wietstock's current research interests lie in the field of chemical education and the role experiential learning takes in student development. Particular interests include the use of green chemistry in the teaching laboratories -- especialliy in inorganic chemistry experiences. Dr. Wietstock is also active on the Biennial Conference Committee of the Division of Chemical Education of the American Chemical Society.
