个人简介

Tom Willhammar is a researcher at the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Stockholm University. He has a degree in chemical engineering with a focus on materials and polymer chemistry from Lund University (degree 2008) and a doctorate in structural chemistry from Stockholm University (2013). He did research as a Postdoc for Prof. Sara Bals at EMAT, Belgium, before returning to Stockholm in 2016 as a researcher.

My research revolves around electron microscopy, electron diffraction and how they can be applied for structural characterization of materials. Keys to understanding the properties of new materials lie embedded in its structures. Electron microscopy gives us unique opportunities to study these structures from the mesoscale down to the atomic level. My main research interest lies in developing and applying new methods in electron microscopy such as 3D electron diffraction, scanning electron diffraction and imaging for characterization over length scales. I study a number of different types of materials with a focus on cellulose-based systems, zeolites and MOFs.
