个人简介

I have been a registered nurse since 1988 and an endorsed (now registered) midwife since 1995. Clinically, I have considerable experience in emergency nursing, having worked in rural and metropolitan departments and also as a practice nurse both nationally and internationally. Over the last ten years I have been involved in the development of nursing and midwifery curricula and the teaching of student nurses and midwives in my role as an academic for the Nursing, Midwifery and Nutrition, James Cook University. In August 2011, I was appointed as a Senior Lecturer, Clinical Skills Unit, for Medicine & Dentistry, James Cook University. I have a passion for teaching and value the importance of working collaboratively to achieve high quality teaching outcomes.

研究领域

I completed a PhD thesis entitled ‘the triage and management of pregnant women in a Queensland emergency department’. Methodologically my expertise is in participatory action research, but I also have general experience in a number of qualitative methodologies. My research interests include, but are not limited to: Midwifery topic areas Rural and remote health and education/teaching issues Evaluation of teaching; especially around clinical skills Women’s health Interdisciplinary health education/collaboration General practice nursing
