个人简介

I originally qualified as a pharmacist in the UK and worked in clinical pharmacy positions of varying grades in a number of hospitals in northern England and Scotland. This allowed me to quickly gain clinical pharmacy experience in a number of specialty areas including Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship, Cardiovascular and Renal Medicine, Care of the Elderly and Psychiatry. I also gained experience in Aseptic Production (Cytotoxic Reconstitution and TPN) and Drug Information. I migrated to Australia in 1996, working initially as a clinical pharmacist and then as the Assistant Director of Pharmacy – Clinical Services at the Townsville Hospital (formerly the Townsville General Hospital). I have been involved in the Pharmacy program at JCU since its inception and switched to a full-time academic role in 2003. I teach mainly into the undergraduate Pharmacy program and I co-ordinate and teach into the Master of Pharmaceutical Public Health program. However, I also have minor teaching roles into the Physician Assistant, Dentistry and Medicine programs.

研究领域

I have research interests in the areas of clinical pharmacy and therapeutics and pharmacy practice. I am particularly interested in the development and evaluation of extended roles for pharmacists, especially when operating within collaborative, multidisciplinary healthcare teams in a variety of healthcare settings. My clinical areas of interest are wide but have recently been more focussed on Travel Health, Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship and Cardiovascular Medicine. Finally, I am also interested in Pharmaceutical Public Health and the development and evaluation of Pharmaceutical Public Health and Clinical Pharmacy Services, especially in developing countries.
