个人简介
Dr Michelle Bellingan is a pharmacist with 24 years of academic experience in teaching and research at both James Cook University and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa.
In South Africa, Michelle lectured pharmacology and pharmacy practice for 14 years. Besides classroom-based teaching, she was also involved in a clinical hospital program for final year pharmacy students. This program rotated students through various wards in a 580 bed, tertiary teaching hospital in Port Elizabeth. The clinical experience she gained at Livingstone Hospital provided valuable experience for Michelle to draw on when teaching.
In 2005, Michelle graduated with a PhD in Drug Utilisation focusing on the management of depression in elderly patients. Shortly after this, she relocated to Australia and took up a senior lecturer position in Pharmacy at James Cook University. Michelle has been the Head of Pharmacy since 2011.
Michelle has taught students at all levels of study (undergraduate, postgraduate and practicing health professionals) and in numerous health disciplines, including pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, nursing, clinical psychology and physiotherapy.
Michelle has supervised research students at Honours, Masters and PhD level. Her areas of interest and expertise include drug utilisation, illicit drug use and medication misadventure in elderly patients.
