个人简介
Dr Gopalan is a Senior Lecturer in Histopathology and Medical Education and an early career researcher in Schools of Medicine and Medical Sciences. He has obtained his PhD in the field of Molecular Pathology in School of Medicine, Griffith University. Dr Gopalan’s research focuses on the histopathological, molecular and clinical implications of human cancers especially solid tumors in the Gastrointestinal tract, Endocrine and Head and Neck regions. Dr Gopalan is one of the Research Leaders in the Cancer Molecular Pathology Laboratory of Menzies Health Institute Queensland (MHIQ). His research laboratory is conjointly run by Anatomical Pathologists and Surgeons from the Gold Coast University Hospital along with Griffith University academics. Dr Gopalan’s research investigates many human cancer tissues and blood samples for identifying new markers in Angiogenesis and Cancer Metastasis.
Dr Gopalan has published more than 40 peer-reviewed research articles in respected journals such as Cancer Research, Molecular Carcinogenesis, Molecular oncology, Biology of the Cell and Journal of Clinical Pathology. Also, he has obtained over $200,000 in research and teaching grants over last 6 years. Recently he has received many awards and achievements such as Learning and Teaching citation award- 2015, PVC Early Career Research Award- Highly commended, 2014 and Excellence in Team or Group research- Highly commended, 2014. Dr Gopalan is currently supervising 8 PhD, MPhil and Master/Honors students in MHIQ.
