Research in the lab focuses on ‘pushing the limits’ of structural techniques to reveal structure and movement in large dynamic protein complexes. Major research themes include: Site specific labeling of proteins to probe structure and dynamics using techniques including Electron Paramagnetic Resonance, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Fluorescence Spectroscopy Tracking the ‘structural gymnastics’ of the CLIC ion channel proteins Probing structure and dynamics in Troponin – the ‘ON’ switch for muscle contraction Development of nanodiamonds as biological probes to track single molecules Promoting the undergraduate research experience for Biomolecular Major students by participating in the iGEM synthetic biology competition
