Dr Bushell's main research interest is sustainability. Over the last several years he has left the field of particle technology to focus on developing a novel heat engine for application in a range of areas including solar thermal power generation, and a latching linear alternator buoy for power generation from ocean waves. Dr Bushell also conducts research in engineering education, especially in relation to assessment and problem solving.
