Sensory Processes, Perception and Performance
My broad aim is to understand the neural mechanisms that give rise to sensory perception. In collaboration with colleagues at UWS and at NeuRA, I work on tactile perception and cortical coding in the somatosensory system, and on tactile prostheses to restore touch to amputees. Electrophysiological techniques are employed to study neural coding. Psychophysical and behavioural studies are carried out to look at integration.
