个人简介

Thomas Sobey is a postdoctoral scientist in the Molecular Machines Unit in the Centre for Vascular Research. He completed a double degree in Commerce (Finance) and Physics (with first class Honours) including an exchange semester at the University of Bonn. Following this he took up a position at the Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation in Melbourne before accepting a PhD Scholarship from the German Government at the University of Munich. This was offered in Bionanotechnology based in the Faculty of Physics. The work demonstrated new artificial self-assembled DNA structures. His current work involves experimental techniques examining protein folding, the effects of chaperones, and visualising the dynamics of fundamental cellular processes. The main tools involved are super-resolution microscopes, atomic force microscopes and a biochemistry lab.
