个人简介

I am a researcher in Neuro and Cardiovascular Physiology/Pharmacology. I have about 11 years of research experience in the field of neuro and cardiovascular physiology/pharmacology. I have expertise in the design, conduct and analysis of both conscious and anesthetised cardiovascular studies. I have worked with internationally reputable groups and published my work in highly reputable journals. In my PhD work I developed the method of implantation of telemetric transmitters (DSI, USA) through femoral artery rather than abdominal aorta. This method was published and well received (JPTM 2007). This technique helps to get 90-95% survival rate with no complications. During my PhD study we reported hypertension and bradyarrhythmia during epileptic seizures, which we were able to attenuate by adding calcium channel blockers to antiepileptic drug treatment (CJPP 2009). In other study, with conscious rats, we observed that blockade of 5HT2A receptors suppresses hyperthermic but not cardiovascular responses to psychological stress in rats (Neuroscience 2009). In another long study involving both conscious and anesthetized preparations, we observed that voluntary exercise does not affect stress-induced tachycardia, but improves resistance to cardiac arrhythmias in rats (CEPP, 2010). In another anesthetized preparation we reported that DMH neurons causes sympathetically mediated positive chronotropic and inotropic effects, and that there is an asymmetry, at the level of the DMH, in the potency to elicit these effects, with R-DMH>L-DMH (AJP 2013). My recent study involving Orexin receptors in regulation of cardiovascular system is in communication.
