Joost de Gouw研究员长期从事大气挥发性有机物的研究,取得了一系列创新性的研究成果。研究包括:大气中有机物的来源和化学转化,以其过程在空气质量和气候方面的影响;质子转移反应质谱仪和气相色谱在观测大气挥发性有机物方面的应用;人为源和生物源的有机前体物对生成二次有机气溶胶的贡献;页岩油和天然气等能源对大气影响和森林大火、农业和居民的木质燃烧等的生物质燃烧排放的特征研究等。
Joost de Gouw研究员发表了超过250篇SCI文章,h-index 为51,曾担任多项NOAA实地考察任务的首席和联合首席研究员,包括美国东南部大气航测项目(SENEX) 研究和2015年空中页岩油和页岩气排放污染物飞机航测项目(SONGNEX)研究。Joost de Gouw研究员自2013年起担任美国国家海洋与大气管理局CIRES环境化学部副主任。2014年,Joost de Gouw研究员担任美国科罗拉多大学博尔德分校化学与生物化学系的兼职教授。Joost de Gouw研究员还担任2009年至2013年美国地美国球物理联合会地球物理研究杂志 - 大气专刊的主编(共4位)。Joost de Gouw研究员于2007年获得国家海洋与大气管理局CIRES杰出表现奖,并于2012年和2014年获得美国科罗拉多州州长高影响力研究奖。Joost de Gouw研究员也于2017年被选为地学领域全球高引用学者。
