The group uses a combination of lab experiments, field measurements, and chemical transport modeling to study chemical processes important for air quality and climate. Current research focuses on the gas- and condensed-phase chemistry of reduced nitrogen compounds and how this chemistry impacts the formation, growth, and physical properties of aerosols. Results from lab and field measurements are incorporated into models that are used to investigate how this chemistry varies on regional and global scales and how it impacts processes relevant to air quality, climate, and the biosphere.
