Research in Daniela’s group will explore the interface of Inorganic Chemistry and Biology, focusing in the design and application of highly tailored systems for the recognition of metal ions and metalloenzymes, combined with careful manipulation of host-guest chemistry and cooperative effects in the assembly of metal complexes and supramolecular constructs for the selective binding of important molecular targets. Emphasis is placed on exploring new avenues for elucidating the role of the investigated species in disease states and developing new diagnostic and therapeutic tools.
