个人简介 武筱林教授1982年毕业于武汉大学，并于1988年获得加拿大卡尔加里大学计算机科学博士学位。目前，他在加拿大麦克马斯特大学电子与计算机工程系任教授，并同时担任加拿大NSERC-DALSA数字影院首席科学家。他已在许多高水平的国际期刊和会议上发表学术论文160多篇，并获美国专利2项，取得多项国际知名且颇具影响的学术与工业技术成果。他的世界著名CALIC算法（Context-basedAdaptiveLosslessImageCodec）是无损信号编码领域被国际学术期刊引用最多的文章之一（检索数超过300）。他提出的“分层低复杂度无损多媒体数字信号编解码器”在MPEG数码影院存档国际标准技术评比中获七个侯选算法的第一名。他提出的基于上下文的误差反馈技术是无损信号压缩技术对当时JPEG无损压缩标准以及后来的广义信号无损编码影响深远。他曾获得的奖项包括：1998年度加拿大UWO卓越研究教授奖；2000年度丹麦Monsteds研究奖（每年一人）；2003年度芬兰诺基亚国际研究奖（每年三人）等。 科学研究 目前研究团队承担的科研项目： 参见个人主页http://www.ece.mcmaster.ca/~xwu/ 加拿大麦克玛斯特大学（McMasterUniversity）电子与计算机工程系 关于研究生招生的信息： 兼职博士导师 信息来源：http://www.xidian.edu.cn/dispnews.asp?typeid=1&newsid=1301

Iandmystudentshavealsodeveloped Thebestcolordemosaickingtechniquesofarintheliterature:Primary-ConsistentSoft-Decision(PCSDexecutable:pcsd.rar)colordemosaickingalgorithm. Thebestimageinterpolationtechniquesofarintheliterature:Soft-decisionAdaptiveInterpolation(SAIexecutable:sai.rar)algorithm. IhavealsobeenactiveinJPEGstandardizationprocess,andproposednewtechniquesforcontextmodelingandEmbeddedConditionalEntropyCodingofWaveletcoefficients(ECECOW).MynewL-cube(LayeredLow-complexityLossless)codecwasrankedthefirstincompressionperformanceamongsevenproposalssubmittedtoMPEGfordigitalcinemaarchival.

武教授的研究领域涵盖多媒体（尤其是视觉信号）计算和通信、图像处理、信号量化理论、多媒体数据压缩、联合信源与信道编码等。
