研究领域

Organic, Supramolecular, and Polymer Chemistry Our research aims to create atomically precise nanostructures and nanostructured materials through a combination of synthesis and self-assembly. Such well-defined structures are considered platforms from which to develop materials for energy, electronic, and biological applications. Our approach focuses on molecular architecture as a source of complexity from which to obtain unprecedented properties. Dendron-Peptide Biohybrid Materials We are pursuing a strategy to control hierarchical structure from the molecular to nanometer scales by combining self-assembling peptides and amphiphilic dendrons. These biohybrid materials are designed to retain the protein-like three-dimensional structure of the peptides while taking advantage of the bulk self-organization of the dendrons. Surface-Multiblock Dendrimers Dendrimers are highly branched, monodisperse macromolecules that present a large number of equivalent functional groups. To better control the properties of dendrimers for applications in drug delivery and supramolecular materials, it is desirable to precisely tailor the surface functional group composition of dendrimers. We have demonstrated that isocyanide multicomponent reactions yield dendrimers with clusters of different functional groups for tailoring the properties of the dendrimer. This technology is being further developed to explore the properties of novel surface-multiblock dendrimers.
