1. 昆虫系统学：以花萤科昆虫为核心的“软鞘类”甲虫为研究对象，开展进化分类和系统发生学等方面的研究工作
2. 多样性保护：基于动物地理学方法，认识和保护昆虫物种多样性，并探讨“软鞘类”甲虫的区系起源以及扩散路径
3. 昆虫资源开发：开展花萤科昆虫的生物学研究，掌握其行为和习性，探索利用该类昆虫的捕食性及传粉能力
