国家"杰出青年科学基金"获得者,"长江学者"特聘教授。主要从事概率统计研究。曾获国家自然科学三等奖、教育部科技进步一等奖、教育部自然科学一等奖。现任《Science China Mathematics》编委,《Frontiers of Mathematics in China》编委,《Journal of Theoretical Probability》编委,Conmmunications on Pure and Applied Analysis编委。
发现了无穷维Harnack 不等式,提出一般型泛函不等式并发展其应用、使用概率方法估计流形上第一特征值。被称为Wang’s Harnack Inequality; 他和陈木法院士一起发展概率方法建立了Riemann流形上的第一特征值的全新的变分公式。成果在《Ann. Probab.》、《Adv. Math.》 、《Comm. Math. Phys.》等杂志发表。国家精品在线开放课程《概率论与数理统计》团队教师。
