主要从事先进炭材料的研究与开发，包括沥青基炭材料（中间相沥青、炭纤维和中间相沥青炭微球等）、能源炭材料（锂离子电池和超级电容器用电极材料等）、纳米炭材料（碳纳米管、石墨烯、炭包覆纳米金属等）和多孔炭材料（有序介孔炭和炭气凝胶等）等方向。
