Professor Young obtained his PhD under the supervision of Professor William Kitching at the University of Queensland in the area of organotin chemistry. He subsequently worked as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant with Professor Charles Stirling FRS at the University College of North Wales and then with Dr Michael Robinson, Oxford University.
ACADEMIC
Professor Young's first academic position was as Senior Tutor at the University of Sydney and from there he moved to a Lectureship at the Queensland University of Technology. Professor Young was then a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, ARC Research Fellow and Associate Professor at Griffith University, followed by positions in Asia as Professor of Chemistry and Dean, Graduate Studies and Reseach, at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Professor and Head, School of Science, and Interim Head, School of Arts and Social Sciences, Monash University Malaysia. He is currently Professor and Foundation Head, School of Science and Engineering, University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia.
