RobertisadistinguishedprofessorattheInstituteofQuantumMatter,SouthChinaNormalUniversityandholdstheDST/NRFResearchChairinFundamentalPhysicsandStringTheory,attheMandelstamInstituteforTheoreticalPhysics,UniversityoftheWitwatersrand,SouthAfrica.HeisamemberoftheAcademyofScienceofSouthAfrica.HismostrecentworkisfocusedonaspectsoftheAdS/CFTduality,whichclaimsanequivalencebetweenconformalfieldtheoriesandtheoriesofquantumgravityinonehigherspacetimedimension.Hehasdevelopednovelapproachestowardsunderstandingnon-planarbutlargeNlimitsofCFT,wasoneofthepioneersofbilocalholographyforhigherspintheoriesandmorerecentlyhasbeendevelopinginteractingrepresentationtheoryforconformalfieldtheory.Hehassupervisedmorethan50graduatestudentstocompletion.
