研究领域

研究领域(Research) 团簇是几个乃至上千个原子、分子或离子通过物理或化学结合力组成的相对稳定的微观和亚微观集体。团簇内部原子、分子之间的结合力可以是范德华力、氢键、共价键、离子键、金属键、配位作用等等。 团簇介于原子、分子与宏观固体之间,它往往表现出一些特殊性质,如:量子尺寸效应、非线性光学效应、超顺磁弛豫、超对称性、高催化性能等。对这些特殊性能的研究,不仅具有很重要的理论价值,也具有很重要的应用价值。在理论上,团簇研究能促进物理、化学、生物相关领域的发展,使人们对原子、分子间的作用力、物质的结构以及表面和界面性能有更深一层的认识,同时对我们了解物质从原子、分子向宏观凝聚态过渡的进程有着深远意义。在应用上,通过对团簇的研究,有助于我们制造出具有特殊光学性质、高强度、高导电性、高催化性、或高生物活性的材料,在生命科学、超导、催化、感光、微电子、电磁材料等方面都有潜在的应用价值。 进入二十一世纪以来,环境、能源等问题日益紧迫,人们对健康也越来越重视,团簇在大气环境、能源材料、生物医学方面的重要性也有所体现。团簇与环境化学和大气化学有很重要的联系,气溶胶颗粒可以称为团簇,气溶胶的形成以团簇为核心,气溶胶的形成过程既包括原子间的成键、也包括分子间的弱相互作用力,因此,研究团簇可以很好地认识气溶胶的形成,以及它们与工业废气、汽车尾气、工地粉尘的内在联系。同时,通过团簇研究催化机理,有利于人们制备更高效的催化剂,提高原料的利用率,减少工业废气、废水、废渣的排放,并且能够有效地净化工业废水废气。通过团簇的激光光解研究,可以帮助认识大气中、以及气溶胶颗粒表面的光化学过程。在能源方面,人们普遍关注可再生能源,尤其是太阳能,目前太阳能电池主要是用硅制备的,研究金属掺杂的硅团簇以及锗团簇,能够帮助人们寻找合适的太阳能电池材料,并且提高其转换效率。人们在日常生活中,也开始提倡环保节能产品,如稀土发光材料已经广泛应用到照明设备中,稀土金属由于其电子结构非常复杂,人们对它们的认识还远远不够,因此,研究稀土金属及其氧化物团簇,认识其电子结构,可以帮助人们更好地利用稀土金属制造环保节能产品。在生物医学方面,人们开始试图应用团簇来制备治疗癌症药物、试剂,或者用团簇来实现药物在生物体内的有效传输。认识团簇与生物分子的作用以及生物分子的溶剂化效应,将有助于它们在生物医学领域的应用。纳米团簇作为生物探针、药物载体、以及赋型剂在生物医学领域应用越来越多,它们的生物安全性越来越受到关注。深入认识团簇与DNA碱基以及氨基酸的相互作用,对于纳米团簇在生物医学领域的应用有着重要意义。 我们将使用质谱、光电子能谱、激光光解等实验手段,结合量子化学计算,对相关的原子分子团簇进行研究,认识它们的几何结构、电子能级、振动能级、它们内部的相互作用力以及化学反应和微观动力学过程,从而为它们在环境、能源、生物医学领域的应用提供基本的科学依据。 我们已经完成和正在进行的研究工作主要有: (1)金属掺杂的半导体团簇 (2)Al13的超原子特性 (3)BO2的超原子特性 (4)盐类在水中溶解的微观机理 (5)铜银金团簇与DNA碱基的相互作用 (6)金属团簇与有机分子的相互作用 (7)金属氧化物与水、有机小分子的相互作用及其与催化机理的关联 同时,我们还希望能够对现有的实验技术作一些改进,甚至发展一些新的实验方法。
