主要基础研究领域为光电功能高分子材料、液晶高分子及非共价组装有序超分子体系;功能聚合物介导的纳米聚集介观晶形貌控制基础研究及仿生矿化有机-无机杂化先进复合材料。应用研究方向包括高强结构粘合剂、弹性密封胶及涂层材料;高碱值金属盐型纳米润滑清净剂;聚氨酯弹性体以及水性聚氨酯涂料等。
