Weinreb Amide as Secondary Station for the Dibenzo‐24‐crown‐8 in a Molecular Shuttle

A [2]rotaxane molecular shuttle containing an ammonium and a Weinreb amide molecular station for dibenzo‐24‐crown‐8 is reported. The Weinreb amide proved to be an efficient secondary molecular station upon carbamoylation of the ammonium. Although the amide was easily cleaved by a Grignard reagent in the non‐interlocked analogue, no cleavage was possible in the rotaxane species, due to the protective shield of the surrounding crown ether.
