On target: Nucleic acid hybridisation plays a key role in many biological processes. To target a nucleic acid sequence specifically, synthetic oligonucleotides with suitable affinity and specificity towards the target need to be designed. Herein, fluorometry‐based measurements of nucleic acid hybridisation provide useful insights for the improved design of a diagnostic probe targeting a human oncogene.
