We report the first case to our knowledge of monolateral Favre-Racouchot syndrome (FRS) following long-term exposure to infrared waves.
A 63-year-old man was referred for a 10-year history of papules and nodules exclusively on the left malar region, treated previously with topical retinoid therapy without improvement. The patient was otherwise healthy, had been smoking 20 cigarettes per day for 40 years, and worked as an engraver. In his capacity as an engraver, he had been exposed for several hours a day over the course of more than 40 years to the light of an incandescent lamp, kept always on his left side, to illuminate his field of work.
