Structural analysis, optical spectroscopy, and electronic paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy are performed on ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ nanoparticles embedded in a glass matrix and compared with previous results for ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ powder. Insights into the persistent luminescence mechanism are obtained, and the thermoluminescence glow curves show power and wavelength dependences.
