The decoration of 1D ordered mesoporous nanorods with ultrathin 2D nanoplates (consisting of MoS2 or MnO2) is reported by J. Zhang, Q. Xu, and S. Guo on page 7766. The material exhibits improved catalysis of the hydrogen evolution reaction and increases the performance of asymmetric supercapacitors.
