ICT/CT interplay: A greenish blue TPA-attached pyrazinacene derivative with intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) acts as a nonporous adaptive crystal, selectively recognizing naphthalene with a dramatic red–violet color change via intermolecular CT. This discovery highlights the universal principle of ICT/CT competition for detecting guest pollutants.
