Sustainable and Scalable Enzymatic Production, Structural Elucidation, And Biological Evaluation of Novel Phlorizin Analogues

New α-glycosides of chalcones and dihydrochalcones, analogues of naturally occurring phlorizin, have been synthesized using a CGTase-catalyzed glycosylation that was successfully scaled-up in a 10-liter reactor. The α-glycosides were (i) purified using an original centrifugal partition chromatography technique, (ii) characterized through NMR and LC–MS analyses, and (ii) evaluated for their antioxidant, anti-tyrosinase and antimicrobial activities compared to the non-glycosylated compounds.
