The increasing use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can reduce the need for repeat biopsy during AS. If MRI findings remain unchanged and clinical characteristics such as prostate-specific antigen density are favourable, the relative risks and benefits of repeat biopsy should be discussed with individual patients.
