Benefiting from the good lithiophilicity, low work function, Li+ ion concentration regulation, and strong anion interaction, of Li2ZnCu3 alloy, the surface modified-Cu can endow homogeneous initial Li deposition, thereby achieving a low-porosity and smooth Li deposition even at an ultrahigh Li loading of 12 mAh cm−2, as well as the high energy density of the 407.4 Wh kg−1 when coupled with a high-areal-capacity cathode.
