An electrooxidation strategy was employed for the controllable reconstruction of metal–organic framework (MOFs), elucidating the functionality of Fe and defect in NiO6 via in situ tracking and theoretical calculations, thereby enhancing metal-oxygen hybridization and oxygen evolution activity. The anion exchange membrane water electrolysis featuring Ni(Fe) MOF as the anode demonstrates industrial-level current density and outstanding durability.
